Spicy hot dogs with Country Style sausages, cream cheese and caramelised onions
Preparation Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 6
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 small yellow onion, chopped
- 7.5 ml dry white wine
- 4 green chili peppers
- 6 country style Santortini sausages
- 6 hot dog buns
- 225 grams cream cheese
- Chili sauce
Method:
In a large frying pan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
Add the chopped onion and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it turns golden brown and caramelises.
In the last minute, pour in the white wine to deglaze the pan, scraping up any bits stuck to the bottom. Continue cooking until the wine is absorbed. Remove the onions from the pan and set aside.
Heat a grill pan over high heat. Place the chili peppers on the pan and cook for 8 minutes, turning them frequently, until they are lightly charred on all sides. Remove the peppers from the pan and set aside.
Place the sausages in the same pan and cook, turning them several times, for about 6 minutes, until they are browned on all sides. Remove the sausages from the pan and set aside.
Slice the charred chili peppers.
Slice the hot dog buns in half and spread the cream cheese evenly on the inside of each bun.
Place one sausage in each bun, top with the caramelised onions and sliced chili peppers, drizzle with chili sauce, and serve.
